"We'll Always Have Paris #12"

"The Back Story:  This painting is all about Love.  What better word to use when talking about Paris?  I've used two of Edouard Manet's paintings I consider highly emotionally charged  as well as a couple from my time in Paris when I was falling in love --with a man and a city.  We didn't have much money so we walked or took the Metro everywhere. One day we went to the zoo  and discovered the giraffes were in love, too."

This is one of the 15 paintings  of mine now showing at the Saline District Library, Saline, MI. through April 6, 2018. This  is  a duo show with  my son, photographer Orin  Cassill  who has a dozen of his art works on display as well.  We invite you all to come by and see them during library hours.  Saline District Library, 555 N. Maple Road, Saline, MI. Phone: 734-429-5450.

The Face of Amalfi

This painting is part of my Italian images I call "Mediterraneo". Titled "The Face of Amalfi" it received high praise from Juror Elaine Wilson, visual arts instructor at Washtenaw Community College in the Ann Arbor Women Artists Fall Exhibit 2012. "My favorite work in the exhibit is actually two paintings created by a single artist. Kay Cassill's  watercolor "The Face of Amalfi" and "Ravello Walkway".

"Wine is sunlight, held together by water"--Galileo

The Amalfi Coast is wine for the eyes"--Kay Cassill

Garden of the Villa Rufolo

Garden of the Villa Rufolo

This painting is part of my Italian images I call "Mediterraneo". It is now on exhibit with one other, "The Face of Amalfi" at the Saline District Library (the month of February 2014). The Garden and the Villa Rufolo are just off the busy Piazza Ravello which is guarded by the church and is the center of activity for this beautiful hillside town on the Amalfi coast.  Richard Wagner was so enchanted with the gardens he placed the second act of his opera "Parsifal" there. Looking back at my family tree--The Adams family tree--we find Richard Wagner! Nice coincidence. The artist Marilyn Holmes, my twin sister, accompanied me on this trip and has many fine watercolors to prove it. Check out her website, www.marilynholmesfineart.com
